Charles Bridge Prague
Despite the fact that it is usually packed with tourists, Charles Bridge is unarguably one of the most exciting places to visit in Prague. The energy here is undeniable, and the views, artists, performers and throngs of people give this area an aura of fun. This is also the best place to capture that perfect photo of Prague to show everyone when you get home.

Dating back to the 14th Century, Charles Bridge (or Prague Bridge as it was formerly called) is one of the most celebrated and recognizable landmarks in the city. This pedestrian-only bridge has seen heavy traffic ever since its construction, and is still used by thousands every day as both a mode to cross the river as well as just a lovely place to take a stroll.

Buskers and artists are a permanent fixture on the bridge, so don't be surprised if you get haggled a bit by those trying to sell their work. Some of these artists are very good though, and their paintings or drawings can make a nice souvenir of the city. Beware while wandering this area however: pickpockets are common here, so be sure that you're money is a safe place, preferably in a money belt underneath your clothes.

If you want to see the bridge when it is less crowded, try coming early in the morning or in the evenings, when the long shadows, ink black water and dark skies add a spooky yet beautiful and romantic element to the city.
